Emergency aid supplies for Georgia wait to be loaded into an aircraft at Cointrin airport in Geneva August 12, 2008. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is sending 15 tonnes of medicines and medical supplies to Gerogia as well as water treatment plants and distribution tanks capable of holding safe drinking water for 20,000 people. ICRC has also launched an appeal for US$7.4 million to meet the emergency needs of around 50,000 people affected by the armed conflict involving Georgian, South Ossetian and Russian troops.
