Someone once tried to explain to me how they had seen someone perform a bunch of Janis Joplin songs live and how they sounded so much better than Janis because they were on key and had a great range and their voice didn’t crack all over the place. I didn’t waste my breath arguing with them.

In some music, you cannot separate the song from the singer. Like the song or not, the emotion the singer adds to the mix cannot be easily duplicated. And it sure can’t be replaced with a machine.
